Free From Families Presents
An Allergy Friendly Guide to Halloween
We are so happy to invite families to join us for a fun and inclusive Halloween celebration. Every child deserves to enjoy this time of year without worry, and our event is designed so that everyone can feel safe, valued and fully involved.

Why Halloween Can be Difficult
For many children, Halloween is a time of excitement and imagination. For children with allergies it can also bring fear, worry and anxiety. So much of the celebration focuses on food. Many treats contain common allergens or have a risk of cross contact. Children may not feel able to join in fully, and parents often need to be on high alert.
Our aim is to take that pressure away. We want every child to enjoy the magic of Halloween without feeling different or left out. When celebrations are designed with allergies in mind, children can relax, have fun and feel included from the very start.
The Teal Pumpkin Project
The Teal Pumpkin Project helps children with food allergies and dietary needs join in Halloween with confidence. A teal pumpkin or sign shows that non food treats are available, such as stickers, bubbles or small toys.
By offering safe choices, we help make sure that no child has to miss out. At our event you will find a dedicated non food treat station and lots of activities planned with inclusion at the heart.

The Switch Witch Poem
We have written a short poem to introduce the idea of the Switch Witch. This gentle idea helps families who choose to swap unsafe sweets for a special toy or gift later. It is a kind way to make the fun last longer, while keeping children with allergies safe.

Our Guide to an Allergy Friendly Halloween
It was wonderful to see children exploring, creating and playing without worry. Everything was planned with allergies in mind so families could relax and enjoy the Halloween fun together.
