Aurora's Special Lunchbox
A story created to help little ones understand that being different doesn’t mean being left out.
Aurora’s Special Lunchbox is a beautifully illustrated children’s story created to help young children explore food allergies, inclusion and difference in a gentle, age-appropriate way.
Through Aurora’s story, children learn that we don’t all eat the same foods, that some foods can make people poorly, and most importantly, that having allergies should never stop a child from feeling included.
A story inspired
by real life
Aurora’s Special Lunchbox was inspired by our own family’s experience of living with food allergies.
As both a mum and a primary school teacher, I wanted to create something that would help young children understand allergies without making them feel scary or overwhelming.
The story began with Aurora and her own experiences, but its message is one that so many families will recognise: our food might look different, but we all deserve to feel safe, understood and included.
Who is Aurora’s Special Lunchbox for?
The story has been created with young children in mind and can be used:

You don’t need to have a child with allergies to share Aurora’s story.
In fact, one of the most important things we can do is help all children understand allergies and the part they can play in helping others feel safe and included.

Allergy Allies is our clinically reviewed allergy education programme for EYFS to Year 6, helping schools teach children about allergies in an engaging, age-appropriate and meaningful way.
